Your completed voice recordings are encrypted in private app storage on your device, and Selfime never receives a copy. Optional dictation and transcription also stay on the device.

Export an encrypted Recovery Kit and import it on the new phone with your 12-word recovery code. An encrypted iCloud or computer backup may also carry an iOS library, but you need the code if its key is left behind. Android automatic backup is off because it cannot carry the key, so use a kit there.

You can save an encrypted Recovery Kit to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or another files app through your phone’s share sheet. The kit needs your 12-word recovery code to open. Selfime has no automatic cloud sync and cannot export a tape as an ordinary audio file.

Restoring merges with your library without deleting or overwriting anything. Identical tapes are skipped and differing copies added alongside yours. If your library cannot be opened, Selfime archives it before replacing it, and rolls back if the restore fails.

A kit includes your recordings and takes, scripts, Future Me tapes, reflections, phrases, and ritual reminders, and preserves cassette appearance, tags, collections, and theme settings.

Save a Recovery Kit off your phone and keep its 12-word recovery code somewhere safe and separate, so you can restore the library if the phone is lost. In Settings, open Privacy & backup, choose “Create my recovery code”, then “Export Recovery Kit”. Selfime holds no copy to restore for you.

In Settings, open Privacy & backup and choose “Choose Recovery Kit” under “Restore or merge a kit”, then pick your file and enter its 12-word recovery code. Selfime checks the whole kit before writing anything, so a damaged file leaves your library untouched. This also appears if Selfime cannot read your library at startup.

The free edition includes three recording slots, one Sealed Tape delivery, six guided practices and a blank tape, Breathe up to five minutes with Rain, and every privacy and recovery feature. Drafts, completed tapes, and archived tapes occupy slots until permanently deleted.

Turn on Deck Lock in Settings to require Face ID, a fingerprint, or your device passcode when the app starts and after one minute in the background. It is off by default and requires biometric enrolment or a passcode already set up on your phone.

You can write your own meditation script, dictate it one section at a time, or record directly onto a blank tape. Dictation uses only your device’s speech recognition and is off by default; you can review and correct each section before recording.

Selfime never sends audio to a cloud transcription service; transcription uses only your device’s speech recognition and is off by default. Unsupported devices may not offer it, and Android may need a language-pack download before it works.

Turn on narration in Settings and a voice already installed on your device reads each Read-Along card aloud, so you can follow a practice with your eyes closed. It is free and off by default, the words never go to a service, and a voice needing the internet is never used. You can also press a practice to tape, which saves that device voice as an ordinary tape to keep or re-record in your own voice.

You can post a single tape as one file and send it through your own messenger. They open it in Selfime and it joins their library with your name on the label. Selfime never receives it. The file carries its own key, so they need no recovery code and anyone holding it can play it. Send one the way you would send a voice note.

Selfime can save completed sessions as Mindful Minutes in Apple Health on iOS when you opt in. It writes only session length and timing, never words or audio. Android has no equivalent because Health Connect has no mindfulness record to write.

Selfime never tracks your precise or background location; optional tape places use a label you type or one approximate foreground lookup to suggest an editable area or city. Coordinates are discarded immediately and never stored, and you can decline location permission.

Voice Balance evens playback levels between takes and keeps ambience behind your voice, while leaving the encrypted original unchanged. It does not remove noise, and raw playback is the default.

Selfime Lifetime costs US$9.99 once, with the local price shown by Apple or Google before purchase. It includes unlimited recording slots and Sealed Tape deliveries, all 50 guided practices, Breathe from 10 to 30 minutes, every soundscape, and every cassette option. Cassette customisation runs from 9 looks free to more than 7,700 with Lifetime.

Apple can share an eligible Lifetime purchase when Family Sharing is enabled, but Google Play does not share in-app purchases from free apps. Each Android family member needs their own purchase, and every installation keeps a separate private library.

Open the Lifetime screen and choose Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple or Google account that owns it. A Recovery Kit transfers your library but does not transfer a store licence.

Selfime cannot recover a lost code because it never receives your recovery code or encryption keys. Without the code or an existing unlocked device, your encrypted recordings cannot be recovered.

Reminders work without an internet connection because your phone schedules them locally. Sealed Tape and listening reminders use generic lock-screen text to keep the contents private.

Delete recordings, scripts, or reflections in the app, or uninstall Selfime to remove the whole library. Selfime keeps no copy of your content, but you also need to delete any Recovery Kits or device backups you saved; see the privacy policy for details.
